The American Flag

from a different perspective…

I know Veterans Day was last week, but I thought I’d share this photo here.  I posted this on my facebook page, and it seemed to have struck a chord with some friends.  Maybe it was the timing, maybe it was the angle…  It did remind me to be thankful for what we have.

My father was a career military guy; he was in the Navy for 28 years.  I grew up as a military brat, and life as I knew it was always changing and moving.  When we’d have to fill out personal forms in high school, the one question I never really knew how to answer was “Where is your hometown?”.  I know a lot of people out there wondered about their answer to this question, too!

I have to consider myself pretty lucky, though.  I lived in some interesting places, met some wonderful people, and have a boat load of memories with family and friends that I wish I’d documented better.  If I’d only been into photography then…

Thank you to those who have served and those who are serving now.  Thank you, Dad, Bruce, David, Nicole, and I know there are a lot of you out there.
