Vintage Vroom!

I joined an online photography group being led by my high school art teacher (from my military brat days at Seoul American High School).  It just started, and every month, he’ll give us a subject (this month is hubcaps and tail lights) to go out and shoot.  We submit a contact sheet of our favorites, and the critiquing begins!

I went to one of our local auto dealers to ask if I could take photos of the cars on the lot (chances are they’d all be shiny and clean, unlike my car which used to be white).  I think it made some of the salesmen a little nervous to have me taking photos of the hubcaps (I wasn’t casing the joint, I promise!).  After taking some photos, I went inside the sales office to thank them again for allowing me to take the photos, and I was offered the opportunity to visit the classic cars downstairs…  Now, the newer cars are nice and sleek and all, but there’s something about that vintage, classic car design from decades back.  I never thought I’d be that excited to take photos of classic cars, but I was!

The lighting was a challenge, so I had to use ISOs 400 and 800 for these.  Another challenge was random reflections on the chrome and paint from the flourescent lights above and some red neon signs on the walls.
